Cold Brew vs Cold Drip: What Is the Difference?
Two cold methods, two techniques
Cold Brew and Cold Drip are often treated as the same drink. The key difference is how water contacts the coffee. Cold Brew immerses coffee in cold water; Cold Drip passes water through the coffee bed one drop at a time.
This changes body, clarity, aroma layering and service.
Cold Brew: long immersion
Cold Brew at Ethiopia Coffee — by Ethiopian Brew Co.® is prepared with an 18-hour cold extraction. Long contact creates a rounded, balanced and approachable structure.
It is served by the glass or in a special Ethiopia glass bottle, offering a different format for slow drinking or takeaway.
Cold Drip: controlled extraction
In a Cold Drip tower, water falls at a controlled rate through the coffee and collects below. The process can create a cleaner and more layered result.
Drip rate, grind and the stability of the coffee bed need regular control; time alone does not guarantee quality.
How it differs from iced filter coffee
Iced filter or iced V60 usually starts with hot extraction and uses ice as part of the recipe. Cold Brew and Cold Drip use cold water from the beginning.
Iced V60 may feel brighter, Cold Brew rounder and Cold Drip clearer and more layered.
Which one should you order?
Choose Cold Brew for a smooth, balanced cold coffee. Choose Cold Drip if you want a cleaner, layered cup and are interested in the method itself.
