What Is Spanish Latte? Balancing Espresso, Milk and Sweetness

The basic structure

Spanish Latte combines espresso and milk with a sweeter component. It is sweeter than a classic Latte, but a balanced version still allows the espresso to remain recognisable.

Sweetness alone is not a measure of quality. Espresso recipe, milk temperature, ratio and serving style all matter.

A house recipe

Ethiopia Coffee — by Ethiopian Brew Co.® prepares Spanish Latte with a house recipe designed to integrate the special sweet mixture with espresso and milk.

Guests can choose less, regular or extra sauce, adapting the same drink to different sweetness preferences.

Hot and iced versions

In the hot drink, milk texture and espresso feel more integrated. In the iced version, refreshment comes forward and sweetness can feel more direct.

Ice, milk and sauce must remain balanced so the drink does not become watery or excessively heavy.

Milk choices and microfoam

Whole milk creates a fuller, creamier texture. Lactose-free and plant-based alternatives can be selected according to individual needs, although each behaves differently in sweetness and foaming.

Latte art is the visible result of suitable microfoam. Smooth texture and integration with espresso matter before the visual pattern.

How it differs from Latte, Flat White and Cortado

Classic Latte is softer and more neutral. Flat White uses less milk to keep coffee flavour clear. Cortado balances espresso and milk in a shorter drink. Spanish Latte forms a separate category through its sweet mixture.

Hot and iced choices appear on the current menu.
